Our Responsibility
We have been climate neutral since 2012
We have been climate-positive since 2019
We are invested in two major renaturation projects
Flying and CO2 compensation
By advising clients in different locations, we cause considerable amounts of CO2 emissions. Travelling cannot always be avoided. In Germany, however, we abstain from domestic flights and cover the distance by train. On long-haul routes, we usually cannot avoid flying.
As a company, we bear responsibility for our ecological footprint. Therefore, since 2012, we have been investing in renewable energy projects in order to fully offset our emissions. Since 2019, we have been using the profits from renewable energy projects to finance the renaturation of moors in Northern Germany. This is done by purchasing Moorfutures. Even more so than rainforests, peatlands are considered to be effective CO2 reservoirs and increase biodiversity as they provide a habitat for a wide variety of species.
Memberships
We are a member of the Hamburg Environmental Partnership and have signed the Entrepreneurs 4 Future statement, which is based on the goals of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. Maybe you can get your company to sign up too?
Consumption at our locations
We obtain the electricity for our offices in Hamburg and Berlin from renewable energies via Green Planet Energy. We cover our requirements for office supplies via a certified sustainable mail order company.
At events and training sessions that we hold internally and for customers at our office locations, we abstain from meat or fish. Fair production conditions, compliance with ecological standards and social responsibility are the criteria we pay attention to here. Our coffee, for example, comes from El Rojito.
We noticed that sustainable consumption can also be fun when we compare the taste of tap water from Hamburg and Berlin. We reminded ourselves why we should drink tap water and how abstruse the packaging of this essential foodstuff actually is. The Story of Bottled Water shows this in an entertaining way. At larger events, we use water from Viva con Agua.
Social commitment
Como Consult supports the social and political commitment of its employees and consultants. This includes creating time for pro bono assignments to work with clients who have little or no financial means at their disposal. These are, for example, NGOs, start-ups, or social institutions, for which we make our expertise and premises available. You can find some examples under Como moves.
A start
We are aware that all these measures are just a start and would be happy to receive further ideas. If you know of any initiatives worth supporting, if you have pragmatic suggestions on what we can improve, please send an e-mail to info@como-consult.de. We are curious and look forward to your constructive suggestions!
